The Rushlight Tournament

Here are the listed events for the Rushlight Tournament of 6763:

Day One
"Aim for the Eye" - Archery contest (Winner: Lilith by a mile)
"Pillars of Life and Death" - Divine magic contest

Day Two
"The Siege Terigis" - Monster hunting/fighting contest

Day Three
"Text of the Axe" - Contest of strength
"Tower of Jewels" - Athleticism/Endurance contest

Day Four
"Riders of Mountain Wind" - Races (Footrace, Horse Race, Beast Race)

Day Five
"The Crystal Dome" - Mage duel

Day Six
"The Grand Banquet" - pre-finale feast
"The Barbed Tongues" - Flyting/Boasting competition. Held at the end of the feast.
"The Quicksilver Tongues" - Storytelling/singing/peformance competition. Follows the feast.
"The Midnight Lights" - Magical artistry competition. Two hours after sundown.

Day Seven
"The Oathday Joust" - Joust competition
"The Oathday Feast" - Celebratory feast and presentation for Shadrach's founding

Non-Scheduled Events
Browsing - the Rushlight is a social event of great popularity and much pageantry, and there is much to be seen and bought at the Tournament.

Conversation - the highest of the high and lowest of the low in the Stolen Lands, Olorunium, Divus, and as far as Anhur and/or Eirene may be present. If there's anyone the party is interested in speaking with, chances are they'll be able to find them - or an authorized representative - somewhere at the Rushlight.

Making a Name - In light of the former, the representatives of Iomrall will have the opportunity to put on a show for themselves, if they so desire, be it through feats of daring and skill on the field, show of wealth and prestige among the crowd, or adept use of words in public discourse.

Politics - Negotiating agreements with fellow lords, talking up or down to the neighbors (both to their faces and to sway their view by the crowds), extolling their own deeds, and other such interactions. A week of sharing space with the movers and shakers in the colonies has much potential.

Gonna be honest, Elegy's going to be bored out of her skull untill day six. Barbed/Quicksilver Tongues is her wheelhouse.

There will be plenty of non-competitive stuff for her to kill time with in the meanwhile =)

Is the archery contest limited only to bows? Or are javelins okay?


Totally gonna rock that Text of the Axe, though.

Aside from the mage duel, Errol might spring for the fighting contest. Unless there's rules against magic in which case he'd refuse.

Swift: Thrown weapons are allowed in the ranged contest.

Face: The monster-hunting one? Magic is allowed.

Obviously, Lilith is going to rock the archery. She also intends to one-up on the monster hunting.

As a side note, Lilith has decided to "hide in plain sight" by flaunting her other-ness. She is going to be Fey (capitalization intentional). It will be her recommendation that the others do the same. (We are not like the other nations, so we shouldn't pretend to be. Lets make them see just how different we are.)

Elegy might not be getting in on that if only for the awkward conversation of "If your family's human, how did you get to be a bug" but has no problem with the others doing so.
