One Shot! The Witchwar Legacy

Post by belladonna on Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:48 pm

The witch queens of Irrisen must abdicate their thrones every 100 years when their mother, Baba Yaga, places a new daughter on the throne. But one queen was unwilling to relinquish her rule, and led a doomed rebellion against the Mother of Witches. Afterward, Baba Yaga entombed her wayward daughter in an icy necropolis known as the Veil of Frozen Tears, along with a powerful artifact called the Torc of Kostchtchie, hiding them both far from mortal eyes.

Now, almost 500 years later, the tomb has been found, and the race is on to plunder its treasures. Will the PCs follow Elvanna, the current queen of Irrisen, in her attempt to recover the Torc, or will they join forces with the demon lord Kostchtchie? What secrets does the Veil of Frozen Tears conceal? Can the PCs reclaim the lost artifact and keep it from those who also seek its power, or will they fall victim to the denizens of the tomb and end up as eternal guardians themselves?

The details:
Neutral or Evil alignment
Level 17, PF & 3.5 is okay
Stats: 4d6, reroll ones, drop lowest
2 traits
No mythic
410,000 gold (artifacts or relics only by special approval)

The party must already know each other and have some reason for being well known.

We will start July 18th.

Glaistig Taskshaper. Part-time tank, all-time face-smasher.

This doesn't involve Reign of Winter in the slightest.

I'll be playing, so long as I get DM permission on the race; Morphling Mystic Theurge. (3Druid/3Wizard/11Theurge)

Heh, from the description I think it's actually a prequel to RoW, Elvanna's a major character in the latter >_>

You might want to post the racial stats.

Also she said 3.5 is OK so if you wanted to do the Archivist instead of the Druid that would be allowed.

I've been reading Reign of Winter in hopes of running it for my local group, sooo all the names are familiar in that description...

Regarding Archivist; normally I'd like to, suits the character more, however I'll be going Druid simply by merit that I'm 600% more familiar with the Druid spell list than the Cleric list, and if it's a one shot, at level 17.... It's gonna be brutal on me as it is. I'll take a little bit of MAD if it means a bit of an easier time.

Whatever works. =)

One error though - MT only goes up to 10 levels, like most PrCs. That 11th will need to be either another Druid or Wizard level or something new.

I'm guessing this is going to be over maptool? What schedule will this be on? I'd like to play if I can make the time.

It'll be on Thursdays, our usual gaming time, starting next week and going until we finish or until Bella wants to stop and get back to KM. 8:30 PM to Midnight Eastern time.

Well, it's TENTATIVELY starting next week. With Face back, we should wrap up the Chapter 2 stuff of Kingmaker, then start this. I set next week before we knew when Face would have access to a computer to finish KM.

That said, the more the merrier.

DM.....? Can I please be able to go one more level of Mystic Theurge....?
If not, I'll probably play as a 16th level character just for ease of bookkeeping.

Spend the extra level on a template? Be a Half-Fiend or something =)

Swift, please don't self-level dock. And no, an 11th level in MT isn't until Epic. If you absolutely MUST have even classes, please do as Obliv suggests and pick up a template.

The race is tantamount to the character. As non-descript in its base form as possible.

Might go one level Rogue just for skills.

PT on Friday morning is usually "on your own" for me, so I can afford to lose the sleep Thursday nights. I'll try to get a character together in time.

From my fellow players, anything you'd like to see me play? (I do appreciate interesting challenges to my CharOp skills)

To the DM, not being familiar with RoW or your previous games, are there any limits I should know or specific playstyles that you want to en(dis)courage? I can build/play nearly anything.

Hm...

Swift's confirmed for a Theurge, I've got a blaster sorc (she can rogue if that doesn't get filled - her perception's decent, and she's got a ton of DD ranks), Obliv's got a taskshaper that I believe is front-line based. Face mentioned a warblade over skype, but I'm not calling that certain till he posts it here, but that gets our arcane and melee covered. We don't have a dedicated healer (though the druid side can manage some) or a ranged attacker.

Really, bring whatever you want, and we'll figure it out. I'm just refusing to heal because every freaking time i swear

I'm going for front-line smasher, secondary tank, and social face. (We do NOT want to let the sorc be the face.)

Heh, I don't mind playing party healer if your characters don't mind my methods. Twisted Evil Unless I read that first post wrong, this party leans evil. My first thought is Necromancer/x, though I might try Lifestealer if it has the top end power to do what I want. Playing healer can be much more interesting when you aren't actually concerned with keeping the party alive, per se, but merely combat capable.

Considering my sorc is an NE evoker with a significantly higher than safe proportion of AoEs to anything else...

I think NG shapeshifter who's just so used to and skilled at lying that it just comes naturally.
Changes shape to match the situation as needs must.

And by god no, not going healer. Druid's the bollocks at healing. More of a Controller/Buffer spell list.

...You did read the part about Neutral/Evil characters. Because I'm pretty sure the party is going to make a Good character cry. And I have no idea how my character would have come into contact with yours if that's the case.
